Program Descriptions

Cycle One

The SAIL for Education institute consists of two professional development cycles. The first cycle, Leadership and Management, has two learners in mind: the Entry-Year Principal and the Experienced Principals. Both groups have their own distinct learning tracts within Cycle One.

The topics addressed in Cycle One are:

  • Managerial Leadership
    Time Management, Personnel, and Organization in support of Instructional Leadership
  • School Leadership
    Style, Decision Making, Motivation and Communication, Standards-Based Principalship, Building Leadership Capacity
  • Instructional Leadership
    Vision and Culture, Classroom Visitations, Teacher Evaluations, Teaching and Learning, Professional Development and Accountability, Building Instructional Capacity and Home School Connections.
  • Leadership for School Improvement – Introduction
    Process, Accountability, Data-Based Decision Making, Action Research
